Tips for Property Agents In The 2020 Pandemic
Being a property agent is no easy task. The property market is very volatile and we would not be surprised that many of you have experienced a slow and challenging market before. However, when this pandemic hit, it was something that no one was prepared for. No one was allowed to view houses, no one could move houses and of course, no one wanted to start selling or putting their house for rent because it was such a volatile time.
So, what do you do as a property agent? Well, we have a few tips that could help you weather your way through this very unpredictable storm.
We believe that especially in a time where we cannot be close to each other, communication is a huge tool that we need to leverage on to help us get our messages across. If you already have clients, please make sure you communicate with them on the things that you will be doing to ensure that they would not need to worry about their property.
a) For Landlords
Let them know how to navigate a time where they might not get any rental income if they are not able to find tenants. Will your property management company decrease your management fees during this time? How will the house stay clean? Will there still be a time limit as to when you need to rent the house out by?
These questions and discussions need to happen so that the landlords know that they are being taken care of and thought of properly. The last thing you want to do is to leave people in the dark.
b) For Tenants
The law is easing up a bit now and people are allowed to move in but there are still a lot of restrictions in place. So communicating with your potential tenants is extremely important so that they feel safe. Finding a place to stay is hard so not being able to know what is needed to be done and how to do it is super stressful.
This might be a lot easier said than done. But know that this will pass and things will get back to normal. It is known that whenever times like these happen the comeback is always great because the property market always jumps back up.
Know that the industry is only going down because of the pandemic and not because there is an actual issue with the property industry. So know that it will become much better soon.
Technology has become a huge blessing for all of us with things regarding communication. Things like video calls or virtual tours are something that you can leverage on. If your potential tenants are not able to come and view the property, you can create a virtual tour for them and this is a great alternative for them.
In addition to that, there are property management systems that can close deals online for you. Send documents to be signed online and deposits can be transferred online as well. This way, everything can be done from the comfort of their own homes.
When life changes, the only thing you can do is to change alongside it.
This is why we believe that the property industry will bounce back really fast. Have you ever tried virtual tours for your clients? Share with us! Also, if you are wondering if rental collection can be automated.. check it out with us today.
